Slowly the warming sun disperses lowering clouds
To work its magic and disperse the winter snow:
As Earth emerges from beneath winter's shroud
Strengthening rays waken the sleeping earth below.
Days quickly lengthen as the sun rises high in the sky,
Soft southern breezes thaw the frozen terrain:
As we wave the cold Arctic winds goodbye
We welcome spring's long awaited return again.
Migrating birds so greatly missed, now return;
While stiff March breezes tempered by the sun
Remind us that summer heat for which we yearn,
Follows spring's awakening, now begun.
Rhymer March 27th, 2004.
